Thanks to John Hagel, I happened upon this TED2012 talk by UPenn's Vijay Kumar. Not my 20th-century view of robots at all. Something quite different. I don't understand the equations that generate the effects shown but the implications for society are pretty darn clear -- a different kind of "machine" altogether, one that can work with others like itself with at least a modicum of intelligence.
