Dave Fromm has done the kind of thing many fantasize about. Instead of going to law school in the early '90s, he slung his sneakers over his shoulder, flew to the Czech Republic, wandered through the streets, and finally landed a spot on a semi-pro basketball team. The result some years later is Expatriate Games: My Season of Misadventures in Czech Semi-Pro Basketball.
I know Dave from our mutual addiction to Zoetrope.com. We had the chance to meet face-to-face last Spring when our other mutuality - and Zoer Extraordinaire - Ron Currie won the New York Public Library's Young Lions Award.
Warm and funny guy, this Dave. And, grieving parents around the world, he did indeed eventually go to law school and is now gainfully employed at a more than upstanding firm. He's featured on "Only a Game" this morning - begins at about 40 minutes into the hour. Great fun. Congrats, Dave!
