The farmers said they'd packed their trucks in the rain but the skies held off for shopping and the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket in Brooklyn was packed, as usual. We were able to shop for the whole meal, as this market carries everything--fish, eggs, kefir, apple cider doughnuts, baguettes, breakfast sausage, steak, herbs, mushrooms, flowers, and, oh, yes, veggies. We shopped and schlepped and had a delicious meal.
- Grilled steak brushed with garlic-thyme butter (with thanks to Chris Tung, recently of Ankhura) served on a bed of arugula
- Lemon sole sauteed with butter and lemon
- Roasted melange of zucchini, summer squash, sweet peppers tossed with thyme, oregano, and parsley and drizzle of olive oil
- Heirloom tomato salad with thinly sliced baby cukes, shaved onion, and the above herbs
- Sweet white corn on the cob
- Baguette
- And for dessert for the birthday girl: chocolate cupcakes from The Chocolate Room.
Happy Birthday, Ms. #1.
